It is our observation that our culture drifts into a kind of "hibernation" during the cold winter months. Outdoor sports go on hiatus and the playground isn't fun to visit. Outdoor swimming pools are closed. There are no outdoor community events or festivals happening. Many theme parks and zoos are closed. It can be easy to just stay home.

We hope this article encourages you to beat the winter blues. Make plans! Go on field trips, host a playdate or even buy some new art supplies to help make this winter the best it can be!

This is the week between Christmas and New years day where school is out.

  • School is closed. Hang out with your favorite public school friend! Invite them over for a playdate.

  • Many local businesses offer special events or camps for children during Christmas break. An art camp or family ice skating may be available during this time.
