How Public Schools Help to Dismantle the Family Unit
The nuclear family is being dismantled piece by piece and we see symptoms of alternate family structures and their values becoming evident everywhere, and it is not a good thing. Single parenthood, Passport bros, high divorce rates, childfree and DINK lifestyles, alternate LGBT lifestyles, low birth rates, feminism, situation-ships, Faux DINKs and estranged families all plague our society. most people will agree that these are serious cultural problems. For example, its well known that single parents (roughly 30% of families) are 70% more likely to have a child that becomes a delinquent.
But how did we get here? How did we get to a place where so many people are living in ways that deviate from the basic nuclear family structure of having a mother and father? And what can we do about it?
One can easily identify that the public school operates in a manner that encourages children to grow into alternative lifestyles as a adults. That is, if you inform a teenager that he or she will get special privileges if they adopt a alternative lifestyle, tell them how to do it, and then encourage such behaviors in an environment that provides benefits them for doing so, it is certain that some teenagers will embrace these lifestyles as they become adults. This article goes over some of the examples of how the schools help divide families and help dismantle the nuclear family unit.

1) Excessivly Long School Days
Young children are conditioned to "the rat race" at an early age and this process has become normalized. They are trained to endure excessively long hours of being in the classroom, and then after school -- many children have to do more school when they have homework and extracurricular activities. They wake up early and must be "on" for the entire day long after the school dismissal bell releases them.
Children in the public school system are being given no time to just be kids. When was the last time you saw a child play outside in their front yard on their rollerblades or play in the sprinklers on a hot day after school? The reason that you don't see this as often is that children don't have the time or enery to do so. Their time and energy is being drained by the long hours that they spend in class and doing homework.
They also have limited quality time with their families, which hurts the family unit. Families are forced to be "two ships passing in the night" instead of being a close knit structure that can embrace doing life together. Family dinners, game nights, doing an art project and other fun family time is swept under the rug for their entire childhood. Core memories, such as going to the beach, are virtually non-existent. They have limited time to play with their siblings or cousins and become friends with them. Vacations happen during peak travel seasons which can mean more crowds, higher costs and unnecessary stress.
Parents also have limited time to discipline their children, parent them and instill good character traits. Managing your child's education is part of parenting and many Faux DINK parents do not help their children with their homework at all. Helping your child with homework, communicating with teachers, attending open houses, managing your child's grades and collecting school supplies to help them succeed are all the parent's responsibility. As veteran homeschoolers, this all looks like homeschooling without the homeschool benefits.
2) Teaching Subjects Outside of Math, Science, History, Reading adn Writing
When schools teach subjects outside of math, science, reading, writing, and history, they are conditioning families and our society that teaching literally everything is the governments job and parents have no responsibility in a child's life except to house and cloth them. It is a slippery slope that schools really have no limits when the government can get bigger and tax as much as they want and print money whenever they need to ultimately take the role of a mother or father.
This practice harms the structure of the nuclear family. The clear boundaries between the responsibilities of government schools and parents have been blurred to where they are almost non-existent. There is no motivation for Faux DINK parents to teach subjects that schools are not teaching and schools are not teaching these subjects either. The end result is adults growing up without the necessary skills to be successful.
I see posts like the photo below sometimes. Like the meme suggests, some people advocate for important life skills to be taught at schools. Why? Why is it always the schools responsibility to teach children these things? Why isn't it the parents' responsibility to bridge education gaps that are knowingly not part of the public school curriculum?
The utopian idea that schools should teach everything is not realistic. There is a finite amount of things people should know or learn how to do in order to be successful in the real world -- nothing close to the broadness of curriculum currently taught. Who is going to teach these things at school? How will our tax payers pay for it? Who decides what counts as being proficient in the subject?
It also communicates that parents are not really needed in the extent they are implied because someone else will handle it. It is a slippery slope of telling entire generations that it is not only the governments job to care for us, but it should also not stop at this.
3) Providing Excess Services
This level of excess care for children conditions our culture that it's the governments job and the tax payers job to care for children, where government is to be the ward of each child. The following are parental responsibilities that the government has stolen from parents and are helping to dismantle the nuclear family unit.
Providing Meals
Schools are doing a parents' job by providing breakfast and lunch to public schools children. This is also a huge financial burden on tax payers to feed the entire states public school population two meals per day. There are currently many private charities and tax payer funded services that can help with meals to those who need them.
Transportation
This is another job that parents should be responsible for. School buses are also a big financial burden on tax payers and they are making the news daily for criminal driver behavior, violence, accidents and more.
Field trips
These are core memories that should be with the parents. Children should have the memory of visiting a museum or theme park with their families. Instead these memories are again attached with the government school system since the school system also provides field trips for children.

4) Anti-Family Indoctrination
Schools often teach about sexuality, gender, LGBT propaganda, and more. When schools teach children that a family is whatever you want it to be, it reinforces the destruction of the nuclear family. Schools are forcing children to embrace lifestyles outside of a traditional nuclear family and encouraging children to participate in alternate lifestyles themselves.
These subjects are very against the nuclear family. It is the parents' job to teach about these subjects. Furthermore, schools do not teach about all types of families when they omit God's design for a nuclear family or that sex should be saved for marriage: they omit the one model that has been central to humanity. They do not teach that the Nuclear family is also something to celebrate. Tennessee acknowledged this and created required curriculum aimed at honoring traditional marriage. Important life skills required to maintain a healthy marriage are omitted from the curriculum. Passport bros exists to help American men find a wife outside of the United States because Western, American women are essentially un-marryable and combative. They do not hold the character values to maintain a healthy romantic relationship, so American Men are forced to find a wife in other countries.
Schools are not teaching children important foundations for marriage and neither are faux DINKs. The nuclear family is a christian construct. No one is teaching teens to save sex for marriage. They are not teaching teens that adultery is morally wrong. They are not teaching about selflessness or other good character traits that are important foundations in maintaining a long, healthy marriage. Children are also physically removed from their parents' care for excessively long hours making it virtually impossible for parents to model healthy marriage and family life onto their children.

5) More Types of Indoctrination
Public schools are actively teaching anti-Christian, radical woke values. The public school system is like the "pied piper' because these values are coming from a place of authority. They are actively conditioning children to rebel against their parents and is helping to dismantle the nuclear family.
6) Excessive taxation to support the public school system
One of the reasons the cost of living is so high is due to the high budgets of local tax funded, government services, like the public school system. Government spending inherently causes inflation, which raises the cost of everything, whether a federal, state, or local level. What if you only paid for fire, police, and road maintenance in your property taxes and everything else had a crowd funding page? Americans would have vastly more financial freedom.
The high taxes and high cost of living is harmful to the nuclear family by causing unnecessary economic stress upon families making it more challenging to financially support their family. It is more difficult to choose to live in a one income household with a stay at home mom. It is challenging to create generational wealth for their children. It is also making it harder for families to pull their children out of public school to homeschool or place in private schools. Taxing citizens to an excessive degree is harmful to the nuclear family unit: virtually guaranteeing that both parents have to work. Obviously, we are taxed for government services that go beyond public school expenses, however, a large portion of taxes are forced upon citizens for "education". Also, it seems like there are new school budget increases every single year which increases our taxes and the cost of living.
The public school has a bloated budget funded by your tax dollars. According to the Census Bureau, the average cost per pupil per year is $15,633. Moreover, this amount only includes the annual operating expenses: when the costs of capital investment are included, the cost per pupil skyrockets to between $42k to $64k per year (amortized), depending upon the state. And in many states, such as California, these costs balloon even higher when taking into considering the large public pensions costs that the general public pays for school teachers and an administrative state. In California the annual expenditures for public education exceeds 12.8 billion dollars.
7) Grade Inflation
Children are being set up to fail at the tax payers expense. It is no secret that schools are passing children who do not complete assignments or meet reading and math proficiency standards. These children are being led into a world in which they are destined to fail, which will cause enormous hardship upon themselves, others around them, and society.
Schools are not preparing adults for the workforce and neither are Faux DINKs. They do not teach children about how taxes wrok, to prepare for an interview, or how to communicate professionally. Children are allwed to dress innapropriatly at school which does a disservice to them as adults in the workplace. Children are graduating illiterate and will not be able to function in the workplace with professionalism when reading or writing.
Allowing young adults to graduate high school with a "high school diploma" without the skills needed to be successful, contributing members of society is harmful to the family unit. They will not only be unable to be self sufficient, but they will be unable to support their family in the future.
8) Medical Tyranny
Forcing families to undergo risky medical procedures is government overreach
Public schools legally forcing vaccines upon it's citizens is encroaching on parental rights. It is the parents' responsibility to make medical decisions for their family the way they see fit.
Currently, if you and your family choose to exercise your constitutional right not to vaccinate (that is, the right to control your own body) you are probably living a normal life. Post-Covid, your employer has relaxed (or is no longer) enforcing their vaccination requirements, and governments, businesses, and others have given up on trying to force vaccines on you and others. All of the above is true... unless you have a child in the public school system.
Moreover, supporting "religious exemptions" is not a solution as it still allows the government to continue control over this aspect of American citizens. In this case it is medical freedom. Stop normalizing asking the government permission for your freedoms or worse, legally requiring your neighbors to ask permission for their freedoms! .
If you learned that a business or a restaurant required vaccine passports in order to use their services or enter their facility in 2026, there would be public outcry for the boycott of their company and their business would likely suffer, and rightly so. There is no boycott in public schools since we pay taxes for their existence and many will blindly continue to vote for more tax dollars to support public "education" despite this inhumane, overreaching practice. The only way to boycott public schools is to lobby to defund or cut funding of their programs.
9) Pedophile teachers engaging in felony teacher/student "romances" are too common
Mary Kay Letourneau was a teacher in the 90's who had a "relationship" with a 12 year old student that resulted in two children. This story gained wide spread attention due to the extreme nature of the situation: a trusted teacher getting pregnant by a child while in her care. The story was also widely publicized due to the rarity of the crime. It was shocking that something so unthinkable could happen. In 2026, we seem to see predator teacher/ student stories on a daily basis. Theyare no longer rare or fringe.
Obviously, an authority figure pursuing a romantic relationship with a minor student and in some instances procreating with them, is very against the nuclear family unit. Duh. However, it also puts extra stress on parents. It makes our culture extra jaded about leaving their children alone with teachers, babysitters, coaches and other childcare professionals. Parents choosing to leave their children with anyone, even "licensed and qualified" caretakers, for any length of time holds an extra layer of risk.

Moving Forward
As you can see, the public school system is far more than teaching math, science, history and english. They are actively dismantling the nuclear family with overreach, bad policy and indoctrination. What can we do about it?
Support a scaled down version of public school.
Stop supporting the status quo. The age of giving public schools blank checks and unlimited resources and support has passed a long time ago. If public school must exist, support a fiscally responsible school system. This will include cutting many programs that are outside of the core classes; math, science, english and history. Schools will have the resources to focus on helping students excel on those subjects and parents will have more finantial resources to hire tutors, sign up for college classes, prepare their children for the workplace and more.

Notice the limitations and indoctrinations that are stacked against you and break the cycle. Have a game night with your children, plan a trip to visit cousins one weekend, go on a date night with your spouse. Go on a day trip to a museum! Do an art project together. Read together! Participate in American Heritage Girls or Trail Life as a family.
